Spring 2021 Soccer Update

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your patience. The Board of AYSO Region 183 - Peterson Park met Wednesday to discuss our spring offerings. As you can imagine, we are working with a constantly changing environment.

The Board decided that we will run spring soccer programs for our 6U through 14U age groups at Peterson Park, beginning April 17 and ending June 19.

Registration is now open.

The cost for our families for this 9-week program is $40, plus the $20 AYSO national player fee, for a total of $60 (there is also a $2.75 per shopping cart checkout fee charged by our website host). If you registered a player to play last fall with AYSO, you will not be charged the national player fee again for spring play.

Peterson Park AYSO will be following the revised soccer guidelines put in place by Illinois Youth Soccer Association, which follow the guidance and protocols set out by the State of Illinois and the Illinois High School Association. Some highlights of these guidelines:

- Masks will be required for all participants - coaches, players, and referees, both on and off the field
- Social distancing for participants not on the field
- Limited spectators with social distancing and well away from the field
- Staggered game times to allow teams to depart and arrive with minimal contact

The full playing guidelines can be found here.  Illinois Department of Health Guidelines for attendance can be found here.

10U through 14U Information:

Teams will meet on Saturdays and will be of a normal size (about 10 players for 10U, 12 players for 12U, and 15 players for 14U). Teams will practice together on one half of a regulation field for that age group, separated from the other half by 20 yards to maintain social distancing.

For the first two weeks, teams will not scrimmage with other teams, only amongst themselves in short-sided games. For the remainder of the spring, we intend to have competitive games between teams.

There will not be uniforms. New players will be issued double-sided pinnies. Players who registered in fall will continue to use the double-sided pinnies they were issued.

6U and 8U Information:

For the first several weeks, we will use paid trainers to coordinate training and game activities. We will be actively recruiting parents to volunteer as team parents and coaches.

** All activities will be at Peterson Park **

There will not be uniforms. Players will be issued double-sided pinnies.

Thank you for your patience as we have worked out this plan. We hope it provides enjoyable soccer for your players.

Sincerely,
Lawrence Ramos
