Volunteers needed – Callout to become a referee (Youth and Adult),
All youth (12 and older) and adults are welcome to become a referee for Region 183. We will train you, provide mentorship (will not send you on the without support), and provide full uniform and required equipment (for referees who complete the course and referee on our fields). For any of you that require Service Learning Hours all courses as well as field time counts. Just as the Ref Admin to fill out your form.
Do I need to referee every week or do multiple games? That is up to you. We ask, if you can to do one game a week (1hr).
Perspective referees, we will be having the “Regional Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course (2 Part Bundle)” course on Aug 27th, at Hollywood Park (this is the Campaign portion) from 12-4pm.
This is the second part (in-person) of the online portion to becoming a Regional Referee (online portion MUST be taken first).
To be able to take the course you (under your name and account) need to login to ayso183.org as a volunteer. Once you are logged in you should see your name and then click on Volunteer. Then Click on AYSOU (this will open a new window. From there you can take the online portion to start the referee process in the “Training Library.” Search for “Refereeing” and View the courses, and look for “Regional Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course (2 Part Bundle)“ and hit “Enroll.” This portion is the first part, once you have successfully completed the online portion you can take one of the local in-person (Companion) portion. These courses are offered by our Region and fellow Regions (ie 418).
If you/once you have successfully completed the online portion and can enroll for the Campaign course (part 2). Instead of selecting “Training Library” select “Training Event” and click on the event on the 27th. If our course offering does not fit into your schedule, Region 418 is offering the course on the Aug 20 and Sept 11.
Other required courses that need to be completed to become a referee are AYSO’s Safe Haven and CDC Concussion Awareness Training, Safe Sport and Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Online Courses). If these were completed in a prior year, they DO NOT need to be retaken.
Our Region starts up the season this coming September 10th at Hollywood and Peterson Parks.
